“F.A..” stands for various things, depending on whom you ask. For some it is “First (beach) Access,” although the ramp that used to be here has washed away. For others it is “First Attempt,” since the older surfers who frequented the nearby pier used to send first-time surfers here to learn. And for still others, since this is a good spot to check the waves from a car, they like to exclaim upon first seeing good waves an obscenity that fits these initials. * | That's our story, and we're sticking to it! Seven years ago, in February of 2002, Cindy and Benk Dagevos opened FA-Cafe. Since then, the menu has grown, and F.A.'s clientele has gotten used to depending on a relaxing spot to have a cold drink and a different daily special for every day of the week. House specialties include one of Benk and Cindy's favorites from their restaurants owned in St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands...the lobster and shrimp burrito. Another of our specialties is our steamed local oysters, clams, shrimp, and crab. F.A. also carries less exotic fare like burgers, sandwiches, wraps, tacos, and wings. Not to mention, F.A. has the coldest beer in town, with a weekday happy hour from 4 to 6. We also carry an array of red, white wines, as well as champagne. There is sure to be something on our menu to please everyone in your party! | |
Located across from the St. Augustine Beach Pier, F.A. Café is the first establishment you come to when you come around the beach access road from the 312 bridge. We enjoy the patronage of tourists visiting the beach, but we depend highly on our locals not only for our bread and butter, but even more so for their companionship and laughter.
Next time you're in the neighborhood, stop in for a bite to eat, a cold drink, and a laugh or two. |
